Can We Really Pray Without Ceasing?

Is praying without ceasing an unreachable aspiration or is it really possible?

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18: 16 Rejoice always, 17 pray continually, 18 give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.

This year our leadership staff and the board of trustees are reading through a book titled “Jesus Calling” by Sarah Young.  It is a daily devotional book subtitled “Enjoying Peace in His Presence”.  I find it simple and brief, but also profound and motivating.

I have been spending more time early in the morning simply sitting quietly in His presence. I ask God to make me aware of His presence, will and direction in each matter I will encounter during that day.  As a result, my own interest in asking Him to bless my plans is fading away.  Every matter I encounter includes everything—the good and the bad.

This clock stands tall on the CRISTA campus reminding us it is always Time to Pray

He is granting the requests of my prayers.

These days most people multi-task.  Sitting in my office meeting with groups, or in one-on-one meetings, I find miracles happening through my own version of multi-tasking.  I’ve become more engaged than ever with the person I am meeting with, and at the same, talking to God in the stillness of my heart.

I ask Him to allow me to see what is really going on in that specific conversation taking place, and how to be His ambassador.  I am finding great joy in doing so.
